Media Player 11 won’t start

I’m using XP Pro, 5.1.2600 on a Dell XPS. I could not burn an audio CD from
the library, so I tried re-installing MP11, with the following result:

error msg"

"setup_wm.exe – unable to locate components

X This application has failed to start because dbghelp.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

<<Click "OK">>

Got error msg:

"wmplayer.exe – Unable to Locate Component

X This application has failed to start because dbghelp.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem"

<<Click "OK">>

("bonk" sound & message disappeared)

<<click winMediaPlayer desktop icon>>

Got error msg:

"Windows Media Player

X Windows Media Player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled.
Do you want to install the Player from the Microsoft Web site?"
…………………………………………

Repeated these steps and got same results 3 times, then

<<clicked "NO">>

Went to: "Start – Search for files or folders

FOUND:

5 instances of the "not found" file

Decided to ask for help. – – – _HELP! Please_.
