Issue involves behavior when switching from mail to newsgroups.
When switching to Newsgroups in Windows Live Mail it is apparently
downloading messages (headers?) for all subscribed Newsgroups.
In "Quick views" the "All news" count increases until this process is
complete. (Now at > 68,000) Clicking "Stop" in the toolbar does *not* stop
the download.
Windows Live Mail slows to a crawl until it’s done. If it’s been several
days since I’ve checked Newsgroups this can take
several minutes over a fast cable connection. Until the process completes
WLM is essentially unusable on a 3Ghz. P4 w/2.25GB RAM
For all subscribed Newsgroups in Properties> Synchronize "When synchronizing
this newsgroup, download:" is *not* selected.
In Windows Live Mail Tools> Options> Read "Get [300] headers at a time" *is*
checked. Unchecking this has the effect of downloading the entire newsgroup
when selecting them individually. Also undesirable for busy groups.
What I’d like it to do is *nothing* when switching to newsgroups, and
download 300 headers at a time for each subscribed newsgroup when I select
that group. (as was the behavior with OE) I’ve not been able to find any
combination of settings that produces this result.
I’ve searced Help and Googled extensively without success.
TIA for any assistance.
