In the ongoing Android 2.1 update saga, Samsung officially announced today that the powerful
Galaxy Spica Android handset will get the upgrade to Android 2.1. The update add a whole bunch of goodies to already powerful phone. Some basic improvements include a new media browser, camera enhancements and improved messaging functionality that makes it easier to attach files to MMS and email. Some of the more advanced upgrades are a new 9 screen home screen and augmented reality technology, which is basically uses your camera’s viewfinder to display updated digital info of your surroundings. I’m sure there will be more on that feature once the update is released and into the hands of reviewers. There are also new Samsung widgets, visual bookmark and new PC sync. To get the official update you must have Samsung’s special in-house update program, PC Studio 7. Expect Germany to get the update sometime this month then to the rest of the European markets, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Asia and then the rest of the world. Here is the official press release from Samsung.
